Leichhardt Heritage Terrace Renovation
Located in Leichhardt, this project reimagines a traditional terrace house through a sensitive heritage-led renovation.
The brief was to restore the original architectural character of the home while introducing a more open, light-filled spatial layout suited to contemporary family life.
Internally, the design introduces warm tonal finishes, refined joinery, natural timber flooring, and a restrained material palette that complements the original character of the terrace.
The project sits within a heritage conservation context, requiring a careful balance between preservation and intervention.
Key design challenges included façade reinstatement, planning compliance, privacy considerations, and improving the relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Studio LIRA guided the project through the Development Application process, coordinating planning responses, consultant inputs, and revisions to address council feedback.
